TO

Dr. B. Sundar Rajan

MIT, Chromepet campus of Anna University, founded in 1949 by Sri C Rajam, is a unique Institution and carved a niche for itself with pioneering ventures in unconventional engineering courses like Aeronautical engineering, Automobile engineering, Electronics engineering, Instrumentation Technology and subsequently adding Production Technology, Rubber and Plastic Technology, Information Technology and Computer Science and Engineering.

MITAA has the pleasure of honouring Dr. B. Sundar Rajan of electronics faculty, an alumnus from the 31st batch as the distinguished alumnus for the year 2015.

Dr. B. Sundar Rajan did his B.Sc. Mathematics at Madras University, later studied at MIT, Chromepet to get his B.Tech (Honors) degree in electronics engineering and passed out in 1982. He started his career as Lecturer with IIT Delhi in 1990 after his M.Tech and Ph.D.  from IIT, Kanpur in the year 1984 and 1989, respectively. From one prestigious institute IIT, he moved on to most respectful education institute, IISc, Bangalore in the year 1997 as Associate Professor. From the year 2003, he is serving as Professor at IISc Bangalore. He took leave from May 2004 to July 2005 to take up a specific role as Distinguished Member of Research Staff at Beceem Communications Pvt Ltd, Bangalore for IEEE 802.16’s Task Group e, and co-authored many IEEE documents and patents.

During his service he has received innumerable recognitions and awards from IEEE (Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), IASc (Indian Academy of Science), INSA (Indian National Science Academy), IIT Roorkee, IISc Bangalore, NASI (National Academy of Sciences India, INAE (Indian National Academy of Engineering), IETE (Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering) and so on. He has membership with Professional societies like IEEE, IASc, INSA, NASI, INAE, AMS (American Mathematical Society). He also has been in Editorial board of several IEEE journals, He has been Technical Program Co-Chair (TPC) and speaker for many workshops and International conferences organized by IEEE. He has many patents granted (US). He has much more than what we listed here to his credit, which run into pages.

Dr. B. Sundar Rajan lives in Bangalore. His wife is Shree Devi Sundar Rajan and blessed with two daughters Malini and Roshni.
